How we verify MagSafe on Y2KASE phone cases

A MagSafe badge on a phone case is a purchase decision: someone will try a charger or a wallet and expect it to snap. Getting that wrong is worse than leaving the badge off. This is how merchandising at Y2KASE actually files MagSafe — the same rules the ingest pipeline and the admin review queue use.

It is our catalog tag, not Apple certification. Live counts of how much of the shop currently carries that tag are on What's in the catalog. The shoppable set is MagSafe phone cases.

The rule we will not break

MagSafe is not inferred from the word appearing in a title or description. An earlier version of the pipeline asked a writing model to mention MagSafe in the title whenever it thought the case was MagSafe, then treated that mention as a second "signal." One guess was counted twice. The review queue never fired.

The copy model is now forbidden from writing MagSafe. Wording is applied only after a confirmed decision, from a single function, so the flag and the prose cannot corroborate each other.

What counts as evidence

A dedicated photo pass (temperature 0, not the creative copy pass) has to name what it saw:

  • a magnet ring moulded into the back or inside of the case
  • the word MagSafe printed on the case, packaging, or listing art
  • a charger, wallet, or stand snapped on with no clip or strap

Anything else is treated as no evidence. A boolean "this looks MagSafe" without an admissible reason is not enough to badge a live product.

How a product is routed

Every product is routed to one of three states:

  1. Confirmed — a human said it is MagSafe (listing spec, operator edit), or the photo pass saw admissible evidence at high confidence. Only then do we apply the magsafe tag and the MagSafe line in the title and description.
  2. Review — plausible but unproven. The product is queued for a human and the live copy is left unmarked. Shoppers do not see a MagSafe claim while we are still looking.
  3. None — not MagSafe. If we had previously claimed it, we strip the tag and every MagSafe sentence from the title and description.

The bias is false negatives. A missed MagSafe case can still be confirmed later. A false MagSafe badge is a charger that will not hold.

A provisional flag from the creative pass can send a product to review. It cannot confirm MagSafe on its own. With no photo verdict, model output stops at the queue.

What you see on the product

Confirmed products:

  • carry the magsafe tag
  • appear in MagSafe phone cases
  • get a title suffix and a description line that they snap to MagSafe chargers and accessories

If we later dismiss or veto a product, we remove the tag and every MagSafe claim in the copy — not only the suffix we added. Leaving a mid-sentence mention would keep advertising a feature we had just decided the case does not have.

Chargers, wallets, grips, charms

  • Chargers and wallets. A tagged case has the ring those accessories use. Third-party pull strength still varies. Unmarked cases should not be expected to hold a MagSafe charger or wallet.
  • Grips. Some styles include a MagSafe-compatible pop grip. That is a product option, not a reason to tag an unmarked case.
  • Charms. Charms clip on. They are not MagSafe. See how to style phone charms.

Fit is still iPhone 13 through iPhone 18, including Pro and Pro Max — pick the model on the iPhone cases product page.

Why this page exists

Search advice often wants "original data." Inventing a lab test or a survey would be a worse page than this one. The original fact here is operational: how this shop decides the badge you see. If you want the current split of tagged vs untagged SKUs, that is a live query on What's in the catalog, not a round number we typed into a blog post.
